The residencies can extend from 6 to 8 weeks between 1st February and 30th June 2018.ĭescriptions of the programs, interests and profile of each organization in Colombia and links to their web sites can be found at the end of this document. Upon returning to their country the resident commits to sharing their experience and knowledge with their community. Applicants should be willing to engage in the host organization’s programs and documentation processes, which will be shared via the different Arts Collaboratory platforms and will serve as a basis for the development of pedagogical tools and for the presentation of the results of the residency. The residencies are open to diverse practices, offer a range of opportunities and seek processes that involve creative risk taking, which can expand the limits of the participant’s experiences. The residency is based on a desire to promote knowledge exchange, the melding of social and cultural contexts, dialog, experimentation and the intersection of disciplines in order to generate collaborative processes in the host spaces.
Applications for the residency can include stays in a maximum of 2 of the organizations above. It welcomes proposals from diverse cultural agents, artists, writers, researchers, curators, and others interested in creative projects, research, and collaboration within the context of the four AC organizations in Colombia ( Lugar a Dudas in Cali, Más Arte Más Acción in el Chocó, Casa Tres Patios and Platohedro in Medellín). In 2016 MaMa attends AC Tent in Mexico and AC Assembly in Kyrgyzstan / The annual meeting of Latin American Goethe institutes is held at MaMa’s studio Bogotá / Arias and Colin carry out a research residency in Sri Lanka with AC partner Theertha.This residency is exclusively for resident citizens from the Arts Collaboratory countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. In 2015 MaMa participates in the AC Assembly in Senegal / Creates alliance with Goethe institute of Bogotá and participates in Episodes of the South with Goethe Institute Sao Paulo, Brazil / Participates in artCOP21 in Paris / Presented MaMa to London audiences at the Shoreditch Bunker.
In 2014 MaMa proposes MINGA to Arts Collaboratory / Participate in the AC Assembly in Indonesia and AC Tent of the Sao Paulo Biennial / Arias presents the video ABEL commissioned for the ceremony of Prince Claus awards in Amsterdam. In 2012 MaMa, Lugar a Dudas and Casa Tres Patios organise the Arts Collaboratory assembly in Colombia / MaMa initiates the Coqui community garden and 1st Gastronomy Festival / Arias is commissioned to produce the opening ceremony at the Prince Claus awards in Amsterdam. Supported by the Mondrian Foundation / MaMa joins Arts Collaboratory / The video “Desde Adentro” is screened at the New York Independent Film and Video Festival. In 2011 the Chocó Base is built, designed by Atelier Van Lieshout. In 2010 Fernando Arias and arts manager Jonathan Colin create MaMa, a non-profit foundation registered at the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce.
